‘Dear School Community,
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Simon Davis as Head of Rowing, commencing in 2025. Simon brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in rowing coaching and program development, making him an outstanding addition to our school community.
Simon’s rowing journey began as a student in Tasmania, where he was a member of the State Champion Schoolboys VIII and IV, and Schoolboy Single Scull State Champion for St Virgil’s College. His coaching career began shortly after, where he led St Mary’s College to significant achievements, including guiding the U/16 Girls VIII to a commendable 4th place at the Tasmanian Schools Head of the River.
In recent years, Simon has continued to demonstrate excellence in coaching, including:
• Coaching multiple State and Club Championship medallists in Tasmania and Queensland.
• Developing young athletes to achieve multiple State and National Championship medals.
• Coaching Queensland’s State Men’s Quadruple Scull at the 2024 National Championships.
• Delivering successful programs at the Griffith University Surfers Paradise Rowing Club, expanding both their schools’ pathways and Learn to Row initiatives.
Simon holds a Rowing Australia Level 2 Coaching Accreditation and is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive culture where every athlete feels valued, safe, and supported to reach their full potential.
Additionally, we are pleased to welcome back Mrs. Katrina Wilshire, who will be providing invaluable behind-the-scenes support to Simon and the program. With this dynamic leadership team, our Rowing Program is set for a fantastic year ahead.
Please join us in welcoming Simon and Katrina to their roles. We look forward to a successful and inspiring 2025 Rowing Season!
Kind regards
Luke’
