Welcome to the Arts Academy.
The Arts Academy offers an extensive and dynamic program in Choral Music, Instrumental Music, Dance, and Speech and Drama. Our comprehensive co-curricular program is led by highly qualified and passionate specialist teachers who inspire students to develop their skills, express themselves creatively, and strive for personal excellence.
The Arts are woven into the fabric of our school life, helping students build essential qualities such as co-operation, perseverance, and teamwork. Participation in the program not only nurtures artistic talent but also supports academic success—many of our performing arts students consistently achieve high academic results.
Rehearsals and lessons are held in our purpose-built facilities, including the dedicated rehearsal spaces within X Block and K Block Music Centre, and Green Hall, our specialised dance studio. Students have access to private and small group tuition for voice and all instruments (excluding piano, which is available only as private tuition), and small group classes for dance.
Whether students are exploring a new passion or refining their craft, the Arts Academy at The Cathedral School provides a supportive and exciting environment to grow and shine.
Performing Arts Schedule
The comprehensive extracurricular Music, Dance, and Drama program involves rehearsals before school, during mid-school breaks, and after school.

School Musicals
The Cathedral School will stage the musical ‘Once Upon A One More Time’ at the Townsville Civic Theatre from 1-2 May, 2026. This new Broadway musical is a modern take on the fairy tales we know and love, powered by the tunes of the one and only, Britney Spears!
