Cyber Safety Focus for The Cathedral School and New Resources for Families

Throughout 2026, Cathedral students, from Prep to Year 12, will continue to participate in age‑appropriate online safety education as part of our curriculum and wellbeing programs.

Middle School students have already participated in the Optus Digital Thumbprint presentation, while Senior School students recently attended a cyber safety session delivered by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers, focusing on real-world online challenges. These experiences support our ongoing commitment to helping students navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

The session explored key issues, including social media use, online risks, and the importance of making safe and respectful choices in digital environments. It reinforced practical strategies students can apply in their everyday online interactions.

As part of the School’s ongoing commitment to student wellbeing and online safety, families and staff now have access to Internet Safe Education’s Cyber Safety Hub.

This online platform provides a comprehensive suite of resources to support the whole school community and is available 24/7 on any device, at no cost to families.

The hub includes:

Students: Age-appropriate content to build awareness, confidence and safe online habits
Parents and carers: Practical courses, articles, and videos to support decision-making and online safety at home

Staff: Professional learning and classroom resources to reinforce cyber safety education

Families also have access to a wide range of practical tools, including conversation starters, guidance on recognising warning signs, home technology agreements, and up-to-date information on apps and online trends. Ongoing support is provided through live webinars, a webinar library, and regularly updated content.

Topics covered include social media and age restrictions, cyberbullying, online grooming and catfishing, digital reputation, gaming safety, screen time, and digital wellbeing.

Providing access to these resources, alongside student education sessions, reflects the School’s proactive and ongoing approach to cyber safety—ensuring students, staff and families are informed, supported and equipped to navigate the online world safely.

How to Access the Cyber Safety Hub

The Cyber Safety Hub is available to all members of the Cathedral community via a dedicated login link.

Login details and access instructions will be shared directly with families and staff via eCat.

A shared responsibility

Families are encouraged to explore the Cyber Safety Hub and engage with the resources available. Building safe online habits is most effective when supported both at school and at home, and this initiative provides a practical way for our community to work together in supporting young people online.
